Align take home two wins at North East Energy Efficiency Awards

We’re celebrating being named Regional Energy Consultancy of the Year at the North East Energy Efficiency Awards in May.

The team also went home with Regional New Build Project of the Year for our work with Darlington Borough Council to create Darlington Crematorium and were highly commended in two other categories.

Ron Walton, Managing Director, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled that our pursuit of excellence has secured us these awards, demonstrating our commitment to leading the way in sustainable energy solutions. We aim to be the property consultant of choice, spearheading net zero transformation, and this recognition shows that the effort and commitment of our dedicated team to advancing energy efficiency haven’t gone unnoticed. A huge thank you to everyone involved. We’re proud to be making a real difference.”

The 2024 North East Energy Efficiency Awards marked ten years of recognising the great innovators in the industry and acknowledging those committed to tackling one of the biggest global challenges.

The one stop shop retrofit service led by the sustainability team offers a true end-to-end solution. To secure Regional Energy Consultancy of the Year, we showcased a number of large scale projects undertaken in recent months that focused on energy efficiency.

With a £7m+ total value of the projects consulted on over the past year and over 600 energy assessments, the team estimate the amount of energy saved through the implementation of their advice to be more than 2 million KWH. Enough to power a 100-watt lightbulb for over 2,000 years.

As well as two wins, we were highly commended in two categories:

  • Regional Business Development Manager/Director of the Year for Sustainability (Technical Director Lee Gatley- Hall)
  • Regional Large-Scale Project (>250K) of the Year for Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund Wave 2.1

The Large Scale Project recognition was for a project managed by us on behalf of North Star Housing Group. We would also like to congratulate North Star on winning Housing Association of the Year following our nomination and we were delighted to see their fantastic efforts to improve the lives of tenants rewarded.

We’re delighted to share this news with you and wish to thank our partners and clients for their ongoing support.
