Align to Provide Turnkey Retrofit Services for Social Housing Retrofit Project
Align have been selected by North Star Housing for their expertise in providing turnkey services for retrofitting projects.
The collaboration aims to address the challenges of improving energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions in 25 properties located in the North East region.
The Challenge:
The pressing need to improve the energy efficiency of social housing stock, along with the goal of reducing carbon emissions and fuel bills, presents a significant challenge.
Recognizing the importance of tackling this challenge, North Star Housing secured funding from the Tees Valley-backed Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDH) wave 2.1.
The objectives of the SHDF 2.1 initiative include delivering warm, energy-efficient homes, combating fuel poverty, and supporting the creation of green jobs. Furthermore, the initiative aims to achieve a minimum Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of C or, where not feasible, EPC rating D for the social housing properties involved.
Solutions
Align will provide a comprehensive range of services designed to deliver high-quality, future proof retrofit works compliant with industry standards such as PAS2030:2019 and PAS2035.
Our team will conduct thorough audit of each property to gain an accurate understanding of their current energy performance. This assessment will serve as the foundation for designing tailored retrofit strategies.
To ensure holistic approach to energy efficiency improvements in each property, Align Property Partners will create a medium-term whole house plan that aligns with the requirements of PAS2035 and Elmhurst Energy standards.
Our retrofit designs will be customised to address the unique needs of each dwelling, maximising energy efficiency outcomes.
Benefits:
The collaboration between Align and North Star Housing, along with the implementation of the proposed solutions will result in:
- Enhanced Energy Efficiency: Through the installation of decarbonisation measures such as solar energy systems and improved insulation, this project will significantly improve the energy performance of the social housing properties involved, raising each property to an EPC C rating. This will lead to reduced energy consumption and lower bills for occupants.
- Reduction in Carbon Emissions, aligning with environmental sustainability goals.
- Tackling Fuel Poverty: By increasing energy efficiency and reducing fuel bills, the projects aims to alleviate fuel poverty among social housing occupants and to improve health and wellbeing.
