Retrofit Assessment of Social Housing, North Yorkshire Council

Retrofit Assessment of Harrogate based social stock.

Align have been appointed by the North Yorkshire Council to conduct a comprehensive review of their Harrogate based social housing stock.

The primary objective of this project is to complete retrofit assessments to determine the current energy performance of the buildings, gaining deeper insights into the existing outlook of the stock, and to prepare for future retrofit funding opportunities.

As part of North Yorkshire Council’s commitment to decarbonisation, Align is leading this project to identify structural conditions and recommend remedial works required for the installation of decarbonisation measures.

The Challenge

The challenge at hand is to address the pressing need for decarbonisation in the housing sector. With the growing urgency to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change, it is crucial to evaluate the energy performance of the existing buildings. Understanding the current state of the housing stock and identifying areas for improvement will enable North Yorkshire Council to develop effective strategies and secure necessary funding for implementing decarbonisation measures.

Solutions

Align’s sustainability team, consisting of experienced professionals, brings knowledge and industry insights to this project, assessing the structural conditions of properties and recommend remedial works for the installation of decarbonisation measures. This holistic approach ensures that the proposed solutions are tailored to the unique needs of each property, leading to optimal energy efficiency outcomes.

Benefits

The retrofit assessment of the housing stock and the subsequent implementation of decarbonisation measures, offer significant benefits:

  • Contribute to North Yorkshire Council commitment to decarbonisation and their efforts to mitigate the environmental impact of the housing sector.
  • Reduction in carbon emissions, fostering a greener and more sustainable future
  • Improvement in energy performance of buildings, leading to reduced energy consumption, lower utility bills for residents, improved comfort and well-being for occupants

With a dedicated sustainability team, Align is well-equipped to drive sustainable change in the housing sector. As the project progresses, we remain committed to providing expert guidance and delivering effective solutions to achieve North Yorkshire council decarbonisation goals.
