Align Property Partners named Yorkshire’s energy consultancy of the year

Align Property Partners has been named Yorkshire’s energy consultancy of the year – for the second time in a row.

The North Yorkshire Council-owned company followed up their 2024 success by successfully defending their crown at this year’s Yorkshire Energy Efficiency Awards.

Members of Align’s sustainability team joined other industry experts at the star-studded ceremony, which was held in Leeds on Thursday (July 17).

There they collected the coveted regional energy consultancy of the year award, which recognises an “exceptional” individual or company that advises businesses or homeowners about energy efficiency savings and measures.

Managing director at Align, Ron Walton, said: “We are incredibly proud of winning this award for the second successive year and this recognition highlights our unrelenting commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency.

“Whether it’s fitting air source heat pumps, improving insulation, or installing solar panels, these upgrades are easy to do and can make a huge difference – meaning residents can save substantial amounts of energy and reduce their bills.

“We are continuing to work alongside a number of private and public clients across the North of England, and our efforts have been praised on a national level.

“This shows that we are making a positive difference in communities, and this is what will continue to inspire and motivate us over the coming months and years.”

Experts from Salix Finance, the Government-owned body responsible for overseeing many national retrofit schemes on behalf of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, visited Northallerton earlier this year to learn more about North Yorkshire Council and Align’s collaborative delivery.

During the visit, they met Align’s architects, engineers and sustainability experts who are helping to roll out the upgrades across the county, along with senior officers and councillors.

Supported by Align, the council is now set to upgrade more than 1,600 homes after the authority received £28 million from the Government’s Warm Homes Social Housing Fund and Warm Homes Local Grant, as well as pledging a further £19 million from its own reserves.

The director of housing at Salix, Paul Hill said: “During our visit, the teams at North Yorkshire Council and Align demonstrated both professionalism and passion for the work they are doing in the retrofit space.

“It is clear they’re committed to improving residents’ homes, reducing risks of fuel poverty through lower energy bills and paving the way towards net zero.

“The additional funding awarded to the council builds upon successes seen in previous waves. It allows continued progression toward both net zero targets and warmer, more sustainable and cheaper to heat homes for residents.

“I look forward to seeing how the council and Align continue momentum towards these targets and improve lives for more residents over the coming years.”
