Highways department strengthened by geotechnical delivery manager’s arrival
Align Property Partners has strengthened its highways department by appointing its first chartered geologist.
Mark Deighton brings nearly two decades of geotechnical and engineering geology experience to the North Yorkshire Council-owned property consultancy.
Having previously worked on a number of landslip, mining and geotechnical infrastructure schemes, Mark will work alongside Align’s engineering and design teams to provide specialist ground analysis.
Mark started his role as Align’s first-ever geotechnical delivery manager earlier this month – and is looking forward to offering his expertise to a range of civil engineering projects.
“Put in the most simple terms, my role is about studying the ground to identify risk and assess its impact on sites,” Mark said.
“I’m proud to join the company and bring a new skillset to Align’s impressive multi-disciplinary offering, in terms of desk studies, ground modelling, geotechnical management and engineering geology.
“This is a crucial aspect of civils design, carrying out ground and site investigations to help assess and manage risks, and ensure the best possible long-term solutions.
“I’m really looking forward to leading and managing the landslip remediation projects for Align’s highways team, as well as offer support to other departments on all geotechnical and geological engineering aspects.”
Mark has spent the majority of his career managing the geotechnical elements on railway infrastructure schemes, including in stope stability, remediation and ground risk management.
More recently, for the last two years, he has specialised in working on landslip schemes.
Managing director of Align, Ron Walton, said: “It is great to welcome Mark to the team and the strengths and expertise he brings can only strengthen the specialist, multi-disciplinary offering that we already provide.
“He is an experienced chartered geologist who boasts significant experience in the geotechnical elements of civil engineering. I’m looking forward to seeing the valuable contribution he can make on a range of upcoming projects.”
