Align celebrate award success after creating pathways for young people

Align has won a prestigious award after helping to create pathways for local young people and inspire the next generation of architects and engineers.

We were named SME Employer of the Year at the North Yorkshire Apprenticeship Awards, which were held in Harrogate on Thursday (June 19).

Since 2016, we have completed more than 1,000 projects worth £500 million and now have a multi-disciplinary team of project managers, sustainability experts, architects, engineers and commercial agents.

In that time, we have taken on 43 apprentices that have each been offered sponsored training with a progression through to degree level, across a range of specialisms including building surveying, mechanical and electrical engineering, and architecture.

Our commitment to helping talented young people reach their potential and forge successful careers in the property industry was recognised at Thursday’s ceremony, held at the Cedar Court Hotel.

The managing director of Align, Ron Walton said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award, and I’d like to congratulate all the team who deserve this recognition.

“People have always been at the heart of everything we do, and over the years, we’ve developed a track record of investing in young people and creating a working environment where our employees can grow and thrive.

“Our apprentices bring so much to the company and it’s always very special to see talented young people come in, hone their skills, and reach their potential.

“We will continue to ensure there is a clear pathway for students to learn here at Align, so that they can hone their skills and make a real, positive difference in their communities.”

With offices in Northallerton, Durham, Otley, Kendal and Penrith, we continue to work with a range of private clients and public organisations across the north of England on a diverse range of projects.

This includes helping to make hundreds of homes and businesses more energy efficient across North Yorkshire, Durham and Tyneside, as well as creating cutting-edge designs to inspire town centre regeneration.

Last month, we were recognised among the rising stars of the county’s commercial property sector at the Yorkshire Commercial Real Estate Awards.

That followed a number of other notable successes in 2024, where we won seven separate accolades including Energy Consultancy of the Year at the North East Energy Efficiency Awards.

This latest recognition of our commitment to training and development follows confirmation that we have become an approved employer for the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).

We have joined more than 450 other companies across the UK who provide structured ICE-approved training schemes for civil engineers looking to develop and enhance their skills.

It means our employees now have the opportunity to gain the knowledge and training in-house to achieve IEng or CEng MICE civil and chartered engineering qualifications.
