Health & Safety Site Inspections and Audits

The Challenge

The appointment of a competent Principal Contractor by a client should mean the construction site works are safely managed and standards and procedures followed. Financial, programme and quality issues can put pressures on the contractor to deliver the project on time.

Our approach to health, safety and wellbeing focuses not just on compliance but the safety of all including workers, visitors and members of the public.

As projects head towards handover and with a slipping programme shortcuts are often taken by the contractor with health and safety controls and management being the first to be overlooked.  Achieving health & safety compliance at this stage of a project can be demanding. A health and safety inspection at this time by Align can assist the contractor to prioritise identified hazards in addition to providing support and advice.

Solution

Our dedicated team of CMaPS Accredited CDM professionals possess the skills, knowledge and experience to undertaken both health & safety site inspections and more thorough site safety audits to support the client with his CDM responsibilities. We can tailor our site inspection and audit documentation to be more project specific, e.g. asbestos removal works or to a specific sector, e.g. education facility.

Inspections and audits can be undertaken at project commencement to ensure appropriate project setup including welfare provision or at key stages throughout the contract to ensure the contractor is meeting safety standards and upholding client expectations.

Benefits

To help clients cope with changes in regulations, we offer a range of bespoke site inspections and audits. We bring confidence and peace of mind that his project is being undertaken safely and arrangements such as welfare, inductions, client site rules, management arrangements and site documentation and safety signage is compliant and in accordance with legal and best practice requirements.

We find from experience that our site inspections and audits support site managers in their understanding of legislation and client expectation. Our reports also confirm, or otherwise, the contractors own internal audit findings.

We firmly believe that external site inspections and audits form an essential part of site health and safety arrangements.

We bring impartiality and are not influenced by internal influences plus a fresh pair of eyes may identify issues that have being ignored on site as they are considered common practice.

The combination of expert involvement and knowledge adds considerable capacity and value to our construction safety related services, supporting delivery of successful outcomes on client projects.
