Ron Walton

Ron is the Operational Director with overall responsibility for controlling and directing the Company’s resources to ensure exemplary performance. Ron is a committed and enthusiastic Director with over 30 years’ experience working for major consultancies across all building types. He has extensive experience of framework management in both the public and private sector and has managed partnership and framework arrangements with Newcastle City Council, Northumbria University, North Yorkshire County Council, Your Homes Newcastle and Telereal.

Ron is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Healthcare and Estate Managers. He has worked mainly throughout the UK with overseas spells in Gibraltar and Dubai. Ron has a strong commercial and technical focus with a demonstrable record of accomplishment of delivering complex projects.Ron is an experienced Project Manager and lists amongst his achievements Northumbria Universities multi award winning City Campus East, Category 3 laboratory complex at Sutton Bonnington, British Telecommunications London Tunnels and most recently was the project/design manager for the iconic British Airways i360 – the world’s tallest moving observation tower

Ron is Secretary of a local Sports and Social Club that he maintains at the heart of the village community and endeavour’s to “keep open” in the face of ever rising costs and supermarket competition.At weekends Ron can be seen walking his Bolognese dog along the Durham coastline, although age (the dog not Ron) means that these special times are less frequent.

Andrew Bardon

As Technical Director, Andrew manages the Quantity Surveying Function working on a wide range of Private and Public Sector Projects.

Andrew is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, holds First Class degrees in Quantity Surveying and Business & Finance and has the Full Practitioner Qualification from the Association of Project Managers (APM).

Andrews’s expertise in Quantity Surveying has led him to both educational awards and the publication of education technical journals.

Andrew has been with the company since 2006; his enthusiastic, committed and positive approach has led him to progress through all ranks of the Quantity Surveying team, and was rewarded with the position of Technical Director in 2016.

Andrew has led and successfully delivered a multitude of projects, principally using the JCT and NEC suites of contracts. Specific schemes include; undertaking the role of Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager on the extension and refurbishment of North Yorkshire County Councils Grade II listed headquarters building, the construction, refurbishment and extension of schools and school buildings, new “Blue Light” service facilities, National Parks and outdoor centre properties, residential properties, leisure and agricultural buildings and waste transfer stations. 

Andrew has procured a variety of works and consultant frameworks and leads a team of surveyors to undertake a £2,000,000,000 Reinstatement Cost Exercise annually.

Andrew is an active RICS supervisor encouraging aspiring Quantity Surveyors to undertake the Assessment of Practical Competence (APC) to achieve their MRICS status.

Outside of work, Andrew is a fitness enthusiast, undertaking many national and international half-marathons, marathons and iron-man competitions.

It is a reassurance for all clients that’s Andrews’s numeracy skills are second to none, spending most nights reciting the 1-12 times tables with his young family at home.

Nick Brennan

Nick is a Chartered Architect with APM accreditation who is our Principal Architect overseeing a talented team of designers. He has over 30 years’ experience of designing, managing, and delivering projects, most recently for North Yorkshire County Council. He is also an advocate of the maxim that “small improvements in a number of different aspects of what we do can have a huge impact to the overall performance of the team”.

Nick started his career working in London where he designed and delivered both commercial office and high-end residential developments for clients such as Rosehaugh and Ballymore Properties. One of Nick’s most often illustrated projects is the roof garden at Cannon Street’s River Building – now headquarters for Deliveroo.Nick also gained valuable experience designing within the leisure and sports sector including the master planning of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club site and a fitness & leisure club for the Honourable Artillery Company in the City of London.

A family move to North Yorkshire in 2003 has seen Nick continue to expand his range of sector experience including retail and town centre development for Tesco while acquiring a specialism within the education sector including the redesign of the new Redcar & Cleveland College campus. Further experience followed with his appointment as a Technical Advisor to the ESFA delivering schools within both the Free School and Priority School’s Building Programmes.

Nick is a member of the North Yorkshire Society of Architects and has acted as mentor to aspiring architecture students as well as encouraging participation of design within primary school curriculum.

Outside of work Nick is active member of the National Trust & English Heritage. When he is not taking his faithful chocolate labrador on adventures in the Yorkshire countryside, he is an involuntary part time wedding planner for his three daughters.

Peter Leek

As Technical Director for CDM services Peter brings to the team his extensive knowledge and background in delivery of CDM services.  Peter has been involved with CDM and Safety in Design since 1994 and further back in general health and safety consultancy on projects involving national distribution centres, warehousing, mixed-use developments, property and land development, multi-storey car parks and public spaces for clients such as Henry Boot Developments, Town Centre Securities, Lateral Property Group and Wm Morrison Supermarkets. Peter has also extensive experience working at the University of York, University of Bradford and University of Leeds. With a strong background in CDM delivery in retail Peter is experienced with working on extremely demanding fast-track schemes across the UK.

Peter’s strengths lie in higher and further education facilities, scientific and technical facilities, private and NHS hospitals, food and non-food retail, warehousing and storage, data centres, defence and high security facilities on projects ranging from £<100k to over £1bn for companies including Turner & Townsend Group, EC Harris and Rex Procter & Partners.

Outside of work Peter is a very keen amateur photographer and technophile and is passionate about all things defence but particularly military aviation. Peter is also a Curator at ViewBug, the world’s largest community of photographers and contests.  Some of his photography can be seen at viewbug.com/member/peterleek.  Any spare time is taken up power walking along the stunning Yorkshire coastline.

Don Nichols

Don is a Chartered Structural Engineer who has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry covering a wide range of projects in both the private and public sectors in the UK and abroad, ranging from domestic properties to multi million pound developments. He is the Civil & Structural Team Leader and his role includes client liaison, management of projects and project teams, design and technical reviews.

Don thrives on the challenges provided by a wide variety of projects as a member of the senior management and team leader. In parallel with this, Don continues to maintain design input whilst ensuring clients expectations are met and exceeded.After completing his degree in Building Engineering & Management at Brunel University, Don gained experience in a wide range of projects including design, management & delivery of the civil & structural aspects of industrial & retail developments, hospitals and housing schemes via traditional & design-build contracts both in the North East and UK wide as well as multi-million pound PPP educational schemes in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Falkirk. Don was also part of the Resident Engineer’s Team on the Blaydon Bridge across the River Tyne and has also completed some international work including delivering a multi-million pound project in Malaysia.

In amongst the larger projects, Don enjoys dealing with smaller bespoke projects including forensic engineering/investigation of defects and problems with structures of which there have been many during his career and current work on the NYCC Framework.Don became a Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Structural Engineers in 1990.

Don has been a Schools Business Ambassador, visiting schools to discuss career opportunities in engineering and has also volunteered as part of the survey team for the appraisal of over 6000 Traditional Farm Buildings in the Yorkshire Dales National Parks as part of the process to preserve these iconic buildings.

Don enjoys travelling and the ‘great outdoors’ having completed many a wild ‘yomp’, conquering hills and mountains, including Munro’s in Scotland and lovely walks in the Dales with his wife and Patterdale ‘Terrierist’ Gem. He combines this with his other pleasures of motor homing, wildlife and photography whilst also supporting and visiting properties and reserves as a member of The National Trust and RSPB. Of course, the allotment is always there to keep Don busy too!

Chris Robson

Chris is a Chartered Engineer and is our Building Services Technical Director, overseeing an experienced team of engineers. He has 30 years’ experience of designing, managing, and delivering projects, ranging from fast track refurbishments to multi-million pound developments. His technical ability, innovative approach and positive attitude is key to the successful delivery of our M+E projects.

Chris gained an Honours Degree in Building Services Engineering at The University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST). Within this time he has gained extensive knowledge and experience in mechanical building services design having worked on commercial and industrial projects across private and local government sectors, including projects on chemical sites, leisure facilities, education, hotels, health care, prisons, MOD and residential.

Chris begin his career at White Young Green consulting engineers on Teesside and Newcastle where he worked for almost 20 years before taking up his current position.Chris is passionate about services design and low carbon/renewable solutions to improve energy efficiency and conservation and has excellent knowledge on the Building Regulations and Construction Health and Safety.

Outside of work, Chris is a fan of music and collects vinyl records and attending concerts whenever possible. He is also a passionate football supporter and whenever he is not otherwise occupied with his family life, can be found supporting his local team.

Daniel Storey

Daniel is our Building Surveying Technical Director who manages a team of eight dedicated building surveyors. He has over 20 years’ experience of designing, managing, and delivering projects, in both the public and private sectors. 

Daniel is a Chartered Building Surveyor with APM accreditation.

He started his career working in local authority, within a Property Services team where he delivered a number planned maintenance and minor works projects for the Council’s housing stock, using traditional contracts.

Daniel has gained valuable experience within the private sector whilst a partner within a building surveying practice. Amongst the list of clients were local authorities, Universities as well as commercial clients including Mercedes-Benz Trucks and The Body Shop. Daniel also managed a team of surveyors who completed Access Audits of schools and public buildings for, Middlesbrough Council, Newcastle City Council, Gloucestershire County Council, University of Sunderland as well as completing the Access Audit for Durham County Cricket Club.

Over the past 10 years Daniel has worked predominately within the education sector where he has successfully led and delivered a variety of school projects along with project managing an annual £4m planned maintenance programme.

Outside of work, Daniel is a dedicated Level 2 coach at his local cricket club helping the club’s junior sides improve their skills and techniques. He occasionally pulls on the whites however his body struggles more and more with the recovery time.

Mark Hall

In January 2017 Mark joined Align Property Partners as the Technical Director for Asset Management and business development. He has professional qualifications in civil engineering, building design, project and asset management. He has over 30 years’ experience in highways, estates, and building infrastructure projects.

Mark has a wide knowledge of the highways maintenance, building and estate management in the private sector and the public sector for a number of the authorities which include, Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, Doncaster, Middlesbrough, Darlington, and North Yorkshire Districts and Blue Light clients.

Mark started his career providing highway design services for North Yorkshire County Council and later managing the highways and property teams for 15 years. After this he transferred to Mouchel Ltd as a service manager for highways and asset management for 10 years and subsequently transferred to Kier Ltd as service director for estates and business development. In January 2017 he joined Align Property Partners as the technical director for Asset Management and business development.

Mark has been a committee member of the North Yorkshire Surveying Society for 20 years who have members from the public and private sector in the construction industry. The society puts on technical learning events, arranges visits to operational construction sites, social events and raises money for local charities.

Outside of work Mark organises a music festival each summer in his local village, Ainthorpe, to raise money for charity. Socially, Mark is a member of England Fans Travel Club and regularly plays football for the local senior’s team.
